Biography
Burke got the attention of the South African golfing public after he shot a record-setting 56 at his home course, Potchefstroom Country Club as an amateur in 2021. His score beat the long-standing 57 that was shot by major winner Louis Oothuizen at Mossel Bay Golf Club in 2002. The only other South African to have a shot a 57 was Daniel Green at Bosch Hoek Golf Club in 2019.
Having captained the famed GolfRSA National Squad with distinction in his amateur days, Burke turned pro in 2022 and marked his Sunshine Tour arrival with a fifth-place finish in the 2022 SunBet Challenge at Wild Coast. He played 23 tournaments in 2022, finishing 81st on the Order of merit.
