Francois Coetzee

Francois represents Wingate Park Country Club in Pretoria, but originally learnt the ropes at the Pecanwood Golf Club from the age of 10. He taught himself in his junior years and only recently turned to coach Llewellyn van Leeuen for assistance. Francois' amateur career stacks up tall, and after captaining the University of Pretoria team for two years, he went to China to represent the South African University side in 2010. His CV also includes appearances for Gauteng North at the Under 23 interprovincial in 2011, and an appearance for the senior challenge side that same year. After finishing second in the Central Gauteng Open as well, Francois decided it was time to turn pro and duly joined the Sunshine Tour at the end of 2011. The Big Easy Tour is where Francois has had his biggest impact thus far, and in 2012 he made the top 30 on the order of merit, which allowed him to compete in the Tour Championship. However, Francois also showed on the Sunshine Tour at the 2012 Zambia Open what he is all about as he secured a top 40 finish there. Francois is still in the early stages of his career, but dreams of being a successful touring pro on the various international tours. He's already had the privilege of playing the Old Course at St Andrews, but says Augusta is the place he'd most like to tee it up. He has yet to have a hole-in-one, but aims to put this right soon. Francois is also a good guitarist, and is very handy with watersports. He is a big fan of Linkin Park's music, and enjoys Chinese food the most.
