Andrew Curlewis

Andrew was just five years old when his dad first put a club in his hands, and he hasn't looked back since. Although he played for Natal in both cricket and hockey during his high school years, Andrew always had his heart set on a career in golf. He had his golfing provincial colours throughout his junior years, and represented Natal at U18, U23 and senior interprovincials as a youngster. He also made the Natal Country Districts team, and was well and truly ready for a career in golf when he turned pro in 2004. An important year for the man from Margate was 2006, as he achieved his first top 10 finish at the Vodacom Origins of Golf at Arabella. And the following year, at the very same event, Andrew announced himself to the world of professional golf with his maiden tour victory courtesy of a memorable playoff. Although he has not managed another win since, he has accumulated in excess of 20 top 10 finishes, and amassed more than R1.5 million in career earnings. His impressive consistency has also seen him finish inside the top 60 on the order of merit every year since 2006. He is now coached by John Dickson, and plans to make his mark on the world stage, even hoping to clinch a major title one day. Augusta is the course he'd love to play most, and his dream fourball includes his dad, Tiger Woods and his hero, Ernie Els. When not playing golf, Andrew enjoys relaxing and listening to Jack Johnson. He loves his sport, with a particular affinity to skiing and riding motorbikes. Pasta and chicken are his favourite foods, and an ideal holiday for Andrew would be in the Seychelles.
