Eugene Marugi

Eugen is largely self taught and has only been playing golf for six years, but in that time has recorded a number of sub-par rounds, including one at St.Andrews in Scotland during the Dunill Links Championhip in 2003. At the age of 13 he didn't know anything about a golf course. Whilst looking for wheels for their wire cars, he and friends came across Pilgrims Rest Golf Course where they saw people hitting golf balls and ended up caddying for them. They like the game so much that they made their own golf course in the bush and used water pipes as their clubs. Because golf balls were so expensive, he used to wait until they burnt the fields around the course and picked up the burnt golf balls to practise with. After joining the club at the age of 14-and-a-half, he got down to scratch handicap in seven months.
