Allan Versfeld

Allan represents the Country Club of Johannesburg, but learnt the game of golf at the Nelspruit Country Club under the guidance of his father from the age of 10. After featuring strongly as a junior, Allan represented Central Gauteng at consecutive interprovincials in 2009 and 2010. He also won the Mpumalanga and Botswana Opens in 2010, and was rewarded by receiving his national colours that same year. He turned pro in 2011, and has made a startling impact in his early years on tour. He recorded numerous top-10 finishes in 2011 (including in the co-sanctioned Joburg Open), but it was in 2012 that he really broke through, claiming victory at the Telkom PGA Pro Am and his maiden tour victory at the Vodacom Origins of Golf at De Zalze. He consolidated these wins with a fine second place finish in the Vodacom Origins of Golf Final, narrowly losing out to Branden Grace. Allan has had the privilege of playing the Old Course at St Andrews, but yearns to tee it up at Augusta one day. His dream fourball would be with Ernie Els, Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. Away from the course, Allan loves his fishing and also has a taste for pasta. He's a fan of John Mayer's music, and his dream holiday destination would be Mauritius.
